Barbour recommends cleaning a waxed jacket using only a dampened sponge dipped in cold water to remove any stains and dirt from the inner lining. It is not possible to machine wash or dry clean Barbour waxed jackets. Do not use soaps or detergents, as they may damage the wax coating and consequently affect the jacket's water resistance and waterproofing. It is possible to immerse the jacket in water, provided it is only cold water, to avoid any damage. Once as much dirt as possible has been removed, the jacket should be hung outdoors to dry naturally. Do not place the jacket directly on a heat source such as a radiator.
